Chancel Choir

Ringers Our Chancel Choir has had a long standing tradition of powerful, uplifting sacred music through the years. Currently we are a small ensemble of about 8 choristers who joyfully sing praises to the Lord each Wednesday night for 7PM rehearsals in the choir room and Sunday morning during the 11 AM service. (We do not meet during the month of July). We enjoy singing in the space of our 150-year old sanctuary with the peal of our Casavant organ, beautiful Steinway baby grand piano, and historic set of Deagan Chimes in our bell tower. We also offer other vibrant instruments-percussion and guests musicians of all genres on certain Sundays.

While we are a close-knit group who sing an eclectic array of music from contemporary Christian to classical to gospel, we are an inclusive group who are always eager to share our talents with others and most importantly, the Lord. Providing a loving and, welcoming environment to anyone who wishes to sing, producing high quality, spiritually uplifting anthems, and being the hands and feet of Jesus for each other are some of our main goals. There are no prerequisites for singing in the choir! We would love to have you join us to sing in the choir or just sing a solo one Sunday!

Oban Ringers (Youth Ensemble)

Ringers

Our Oban Ringers are the most organic, thriving choir in our music ministry. We have grown from 4 ringers and, 2 octaves five years ago to now 4.5 octaves, 1 set of 3-octave chimes, and 16 ringers! We are constantly gaining new members and doing things together. Last year we enjoyed attending the Raleigh Ringers Concert together in May. We rehearse on Sundays from 4-5PM in the Handbell Room. Our music is lively, fun, worshipful, and often toe-tapping. Percussion instruments accompany our bells a lot, which our ringers enjoy immensely. Youth do not need to know how to read music to participate since they learn by colors! For more information about this vibrant choir ages 6 th -12 th grades.

Children's Choir

Children's Choir

The children's choir here at First Church has in our recent past had a long-standing tradition of success and inclusivity. For years, children all over Scotland County and even surrounding counties have participated in music making to glorify the Lord. From Christmas Pageants to Spring Musicals, children have grown musically and spiritually through our choirs. Children currently meet during Sunday school, Children's Church and during our Wednesday Night Fellowships to practice songs to share with the congregation a few times a year. They perform during the Traditional Service at 11:00. First Church is praying and visioning our way forward as we seek to reclaim our rich heritage in ministry and service to the Kingdom and our community.
